I stayed for one night in July 2012. The staff could not be more helpful and were very friendly. Food was lovely, although book early if you want to have your evening meal in the pub. I had the single room, room 7, which was very spacious, not a squashed affair. I will definitely be returning to the Wilson next year.
It was our first ever Family break to the Lake District, was made even more pleasurable by fantastic service we received, especially from Kathy. Excellent choice of food available, value for money. Just what you needed after a trek up the Lakeland fells. Would be recommend this to our friends and will defiantly be returning !!!
Just returned from a 2 night break at the Wilson Arms fantastic food & accommodation really lovely weekend.
We stayed in room 3 fabulous. 3 course dinner on Friday was perfect the best fish & chips ever!
Matt was extremely friendly & always asking if everything was ok with our stay. Perfect weekend break especially if you book the offer. We will be back Definately!

Didn’t stay here but, called in during a wet walk just for a tea and cake but liked it so much stayed for dinner too.
Good vegetarian option and friendly, efficient service. Not too expensive.
Good range of real beers.
We have just returned from a couple of nights at The Wilsons Arms, Torver. We had room 6 which is beautifully decorated, very clean and modern and had nice little extras – flat screen TV, nice handwash, a small balcony with a view out to Old Man of Coniston. We didn’t have any complaints about the room.
The breakfasts were superb. We had a continental breakfast included in our deal but we chose to have a full English on the first morning. What a refreshing change to find somewhere that uses British bacon and sausages (locally sourced). The quality ingredients shone through. If you don’t want a full breakfast there is plenty of choice – fruit, cereals, pastries, bread, yoghurts, different veggie options etc. A perfect way to start the day!
Our evening meals were plentiful – the portion sizes are huge. The fish and chips was very good, and the lemon chicken lovely. The puddings are homemade and beautiful. Some of the dishes could have been better – maybe a case of quantity over quality but nothing too bad. It would have been nice to have been told in advance about the work being carried out also. It wouldn’t have put us off staying but it just would have been courteous. The staff were very friendly during our stay.
Would we return to the Wilsons Arms? Yes.
My boyfriend and I have just come back from spending 2 nights at The Wilson Arms having previously bought a ‘Groupon’ voucher discounting our stay. We had a warm welcome upon our arrival and the service we received thereafter continued in the same vein. Our room was spotless and the bed was comfy – albeit quite small but well equipped (hairdryer and mineral water plus the usual tea/coffee). We had a 3 course meal on the first night included in our deal but we chose to eat at the pub the second night too because the food was excellent. The whole atmosphere in the pub / restaurant was very laid back and inviting (the seating in the pub and restaurant was pretty much entirely taken up both nights but nonethess those that came in seeking food without a booking were accommodated as best as they could). Another nice touch came in the form of a surprise pudding with lit candle to acknowledge my boyfriends birthday which I had mentioned in passing. Breakfast super and the staff genuinely lovely people. Suitable for couples, friends or families.
