”Day trip saved!”

My wife and I dropped in for lunch at around 2pm thinking that the pub would be closing but we could not have found a better welcome. We’d had a fraught trip to Coniston to see the powerboat racing. The journey took more than 1hr 30 mins, with navigational problems compounding our misery + slight case of car sickness in the passenger seat.
But as we walked through the door the roaring fire, the cute pub dog and the welcome from Kathy behind the bar made it all melt away. We told her our troubles, she sympathised and was charm itself.
Great pint of Bluebird, a lovely club sandwich. And Kathy have us a guided tour of the fabulous ladies’ toilets and pointed out the elsive hand dryer!
What a find.
We’d love to go back to enjoy a stay.
