Why not drop in for a pint of Loweswater Gold

Loweswater Gold

A crisp and hoppy well-rounded pale ale with a hint of citrus. At 4.3% it’s a good session ale and has consistently been in my top 20 beers of the world.

Loweswater Gold is brewed locally at Hawkshead on the banks of Esthwaite by Cumbrian Legendary Ales.

”Friendly accommodating staff, real fire, delicious food”

We came here for dinner on our first visit to the lakes. We popped in on the way back to our cottage for a drink and once we met the friendly bar manager Andrew and saw the real fire and friendly atmosphere we booked a table for two days later. On return we found a wide selection of real ales and wines. A varied menu with a specials board to suit all tastes and a roaring log fire on a cold winters evening. Whilst we perused the menu we were given a complimentary aperitif of olives and delicious bread. We then went through to the cosy restaurant for a meal which did not disappoint  All In all a lovely, friendly establishment which we would definately recommend.

”Great location for a break”

If you are looking for a nice break at an atmospheric location don’t look any further. Wilson Arms has it all. Good restaurant with honest local food and a cosy pub/bar area with log fire.
Great to come back to after a long walk in the beautiful area

”We spent little but were treated like big spenders”

Just popped in for coffee – mainly due to the illy coffee sign. The welcome was warm, the coffee, accompanied by a delicious square of fruit cake, was excellent. The cost was most reasonable and the ambiance very comfortable. We were extremely impressed and will definitely darken their door again before we return to North Wales.

”Wonderful Rooms. Fantastic Food. Excellent Service”

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Wilson’s Arms. The food was simply divine  from breakfast through to dinner. The newly refurbished bedrooms were stunning, with an excellent shower & lots of hot water (a must after a long walk in the beautiful surroundings) The bed was heavenly & the Egyptian cotton sheets made for a perfect night’s sleep. The bar, with it’s roaring, open, log fire was so welcoming, with a great selection of beers & wines and plenty of games for wet weather, a selection of daily newspapers, and dog friendly. All the staff we met were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We will certainly be returning and are more than happy & confident to recommend a stay at The Wilson’s Arms. Pop in for a meal or snack, if passing…you will not be disappointed.

”The Wilsons Arms, Torver Pubs, Feedback”

An excellent place, newly and well decorated, very appealing indeed. Not only are dogs welcomed, assumed they behave, but if you ask, I think they may even look after your horse! Well, maybe, they are horse lovers and riders.

The first thing of particular import to me is that Wilson’s is also very welcoming, and the staff is most helpful were my mother is concerned. She is 83 and severely handicapped. So I take her often there, and she enjoys it too.

Another item is the coffee, which is excellent. My only gripe here is that it isn’t served in syringes – I’m a caffeine addict…

The staff are wonderful and keen to help, may I mention in particular Cathy as well as the proprietor Francis.

Finally the food, always good quality, decent portions and very well presented. They really make an effort, so that the eyes can eat as well.

In summary, I have become a regular, even though it’s a 20-30 minute trip from where I live. But given the scenery it’s also a very pleasant and relaxing journey, driving along Coniston Lake.

”What a lunch!”

Five of us recently-retired gents go walking in the Lakes each week (weather permitting), and this involves a post-walk meal at a pub. (of course!)
Today we walked on Torver Commons and ended up at The Wilson Arms. We’d been before, either last year or earlier this, so there was no problem choosing it as our lunch venue. But the decor etc had changed, a vast improvement, but the courtesy and service were just a friendly as we remembered.
Perhaps even more friendly, as it was Thursday and Kathy was on duty. How to make folk feel at home so easily.
We all ordered something different from the varied lunch menu, but when the meals arrived the portions were huge. Talk about value for money!! They’re going to take some walking off.!!
It was all very enjoyable and, like Arnie in the movies ,”We’ll be back!”
