Hoping you all had a brilliant start to the new year and that the rest of the year continues to be just as good!
Here at The Wilson’s we have a lot of plans for 2015 starting off with two new luxury self catering apartments, furnished to the same high standard as our very popular Wilson’s No.3 and The Mews, both will be available to let starting from Easter. We are very excited about these, expect more information about the apartments as they get closer to completion.
For months our extra, extra large resident, Annie, had us all convinced she was pregnant and ready to once again contribute to our ever-expanding family. To everyone’s disbelief it turns out she wasn’t in fact pregnant at all! She was however found to be reaping all the maternity benefits whilst chowing down on a few too many pig’nics! Unfortunately we’re now saying goodbye to Annie as she embarks on her final journey for some well-deserved R&R and all the swine and cheese she can consume in that bottomless pit of a stomach!
Wendy & Piglets
On a much lighter note, Annie’s heavyhearted departure is met with some exciting news as we welcome her sister Wendy, along with 10 of her healthy piglets to grace our presence and provide some great entertainment for the summer. Be sure to stop by and see how they’ve all settled in!
Coniston Lake Race
With summer once again around the corner, you’ll be given the opportunity to challenge Matthew in a 14 mile bicycle race around the picturesque lake of Coniston. For a £10 entry fee, this feat of endurance enables you to compete for a place on our wall of fame, and every penny will be donated to aid local causes! Upon completing the scenic route, which takes approximately an hour and 15 minutes, you’ll be rewarded with a refreshing pint of cold beer to help soothe the impending fatigue and signify the end of the race. Once your glass is empty, your time will be recorded behind the bar and the winner will be announced once all participants have safely returned!
A super experience which added value to our lil holiday in Grasmere. Only a short journey to this friendly and uniquely decorated pub down the road. We would highly recommend visiting this area of coniston to experience the selection of beverages and fine dining on offer. The fillet steak was perfectly cooked and chef’s choice of meat pie just beautiful and very filling. Service second to none. They cater for large parties also. Get yourselves there!!
Superb food, beers and wine. Hardworking staff on the ball. A real cosy pub atmosphere in a great location for any outdoor pursuits . Has charm and character that larger places lack. Nice to see the wine list sensibly priced unlike most establishments. We will return!
On a wet and miserable night 6th December whilst staying nearby we visited the Wilson Arms for a meal ., we were greeted by a friendly and helpful member of staff and I enjoyed a pint of locally brewed beer whilst deciding what to eat.
The menu was extensive with some excellent options to meet all tastes. I opted for the home made pie which really was homemade and very scrummy, served with fresh veg. My partner chose the steak and veg which was enormous and a fine cut of beef.
The real fire and comfy relaxed seating added to the ambiance.
Overall a fabulous meal and much much better than standard pub grub.
Only stopped for a drink and was amazed by how nice it was! Really cute and the staff are so friendly, we were served by a girl called Kelly, she was extremely friendly and made the best hot chocolate ever! The out door heaters outside are lovely. There is a Wii for the kids to play on, free WiFi computers, games and a place to charge up your phone, all for free! I would advise anyone to go! Amazing!
Had a lunch there last week, I can honestly say it was magnificent, the pork fillets and the fish cakes were delicious. This together with warm and friendly atmosphere in the bar and superb service really made our day. Will definitely come back.
I live in Scotland and went to the Wilson Arms. I went down for a short holiday in the Lake District. The food was superb, they had a selection of award winning beers (which the bar staff allowed us to try before buying!) and the atmosphere and service was also first class. Will definitely be back when I’m down next!
