Just called in on the off chance for a drink yesterday and ended up staying for a meal. Excellent food, cheery service and ambience.Very reasonable prices.Sat in front of a log fire and dozed off to some good old fashioned rock and roll.
Going home now but will be back near Coniston again next year. Will not hesitate to go back. What a jewel.
Saw the sign and popped in for breakfast; what a lovely surprise. Really nice menu to choose from followed by beautiful breakfasts served to the three of us with a smile and a great bit of friendly banter. Excellent!
Five of us recently-retired gents go walking in the Lakes each week (weather permitting), and this involves a post-walk meal at a pub. (of course!) Today we walked on Torver Commons and ended up at The Wilson Arms. We’d been before, either last year or earlier this, so there was no problem choosing it as our lunch venue. But the decor etc had changed, a vast improvement, but the courtesy and service were just a friendly as we remembered. Perhaps even more friendly, as it was Thursday and Kathy was on duty. How to make folk feel at home so easily. We all ordered something different from the varied lunch menu, but when the meals arrived the portions were huge. Talk about value for money!! They’re going to take some walking off.!! It was all very enjoyable and, like Arnie in the movies ,”We’ll be back!”

Louise and I planned a couple of days in the Lakes but required a dog friendly establishment preferably a pub with restaurant and accommodation We looked at lots of places online and noticed The Wilsons offered a good value two night midweek break. I rang, spoke to Gemma, booked, paid deposit and received conformation within minutes, all very easy. On arrival we loved the look and feel of the place. We were greeted in a lovely friendly manner which was extended to our border collie Logan. We stayed in a lovely room, (no.3) very comfortable and a nice dog bed for Logan included. We ate our evening meals and breakfasts in the bar area so Logan could accompany us. It was very pleasant, the food was excellent quality, well cooked and good value. All the staff were lovely and we spent one early evening in the bar in the company of Gemma and her husband and lovely little boy for a couple of hours which was very pleasant. I have to say we had a great time and were made to feel very much at ease and relaxed, exactly what we needed. We hope to make a return visit next year. Thanks for a lovely stay.
Called into this pub after hearing that the overall running was safely back in the hands of the Mayvers family since November 2011.The cosy bar lounge has warmth and charm. We had afternoon tea in the bar, very well served. Looking forward to renewing our visits to this restaurant for meals.Nice friendly reception by staff and management.
