”Wow, how big is that fish & chips!?”

Just popped in on the way back from Muncaster Castle for food and drinks, what an end to a perfect day, been to the Lakes twice a year for roughly 5 years now and have been to all the top places (Drunken Duck, Horse and Farrier etc).
This place is up there with the best with friendly service, crisp cold perfect beer and as for the fish and chips WOW, probably one of the biggest and best fish and chips I have ever had and I know my fish. Wife and kids meals perfect also, didn’t have room for dessert. Went the other night and will probably go before the holiday is out.

”Wonderful Rooms. Fantastic Food. Excellent Service”

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at The Wilson’s Arms. The food was simply divine  from breakfast through to dinner. The newly refurbished bedrooms were stunning, with an excellent shower & lots of hot water (a must after a long walk in the beautiful surroundings) The bed was heavenly & the Egyptian cotton sheets made for a perfect night’s sleep. The bar, with it’s roaring, open, log fire was so welcoming, with a great selection of beers & wines and plenty of games for wet weather, a selection of daily newspapers, and dog friendly. All the staff we met were really friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. We will certainly be returning and are more than happy & confident to recommend a stay at The Wilson’s Arms. Pop in for a meal or snack, if passing…you will not be disappointed.

”The Wilsons Arms, Torver Pubs, Feedback”

An excellent place, newly and well decorated, very appealing indeed. Not only are dogs welcomed, assumed they behave, but if you ask, I think they may even look after your horse! Well, maybe, they are horse lovers and riders.

The first thing of particular import to me is that Wilson’s is also very welcoming, and the staff is most helpful were my mother is concerned. She is 83 and severely handicapped. So I take her often there, and she enjoys it too.

Another item is the coffee, which is excellent. My only gripe here is that it isn’t served in syringes – I’m a caffeine addict…

The staff are wonderful and keen to help, may I mention in particular Cathy as well as the proprietor Francis.

Finally the food, always good quality, decent portions and very well presented. They really make an effort, so that the eyes can eat as well.

In summary, I have become a regular, even though it’s a 20-30 minute trip from where I live. But given the scenery it’s also a very pleasant and relaxing journey, driving along Coniston Lake.

”Excellent watering hole”

Just called in on the off chance for a drink yesterday and ended up staying for a meal. Excellent food, cheery service and ambience.Very reasonable prices.Sat in front of a log fire and dozed off to some good old fashioned rock and roll.

Going home now but will be back near Coniston again next year. Will not hesitate to go back. What a jewel.

”Breakfast at The Wilsons”

Saw the sign and popped in for breakfast; what a lovely surprise. Really nice menu to choose from followed by beautiful breakfasts served to the three of us with a smile and a great bit of friendly banter. Excellent!

“Great food & Friendly staff!”

Its a shame I didn’t spot this place to stay on the internet when I was looking, looks really nice place to stay. The pub was recommended to me by a local in Coniston village near where I was staying, so I headed over there for a bite to eat and was welcomed by very friendly staff and had some very nice food. Would like to thank Kathy from behind the bar for making me feel at home shame I couldn’t connect to the WiFi but on a second visit the next night all was well thanks again look forward to see you next year when the sun is out 🙂

“Brilliant food and wonderful service”

We called in for lunch, 4 adults and 2 very young children, and were met with a really warm welcome. We were immediately seated and nothing was too much trouble. There was no eye raising at the children or tut tutting. We ordered from the extensive menus, with good choice for the little ones, and the food arrived in a short time, hot and delicious. To cut it short we enjoyed a lovely family lunch in relaxing surroundings.
